Naples is being hammered by significantly fewer building permits than expected and will be forced to lay off an undetermined number of its building department staff.
A new committee will probe how taxes collected from tourists in Collier County are spent. At a Tourist Development Council meeting last week, members voted unanimously to create a subcommittee that will analyze how the money is split up and how it’s used. The group will look at how the dollars might be better spent.

The Bargain Box, the longest continuingly operating Thrift store in Naples, will be celebrating its 25th birthday in May. Currently located in the pink building at the corner of 8th Street South and 3rd Avenue South, the store is gaining a reputation for raising the bar for all local thrift operations and is also known as, “The Thrift off Fifth.”
