Two banks that hoped to become one have gone their separate ways. Florida Shores Bancorp, based in Pompano Beach, and Shamrock Bank in Naples have called off their plans to merge. State regulators approved the deal on May 27, but it got hung up when federal regulators failed to make a decision one way or the other on the proposal.
